Rangers have branded a tifo by their own supporters “unacceptable” after Sunday’s Glasgow Derby. Celtic dominated the game but were held to a 1-1 draw in the final meeting of the season.

While there were a few contentious moments in the game, before kick off, the Rangers ultras unveiled a tifo with a gun pointed towards the away end with ‘rebel scum’ on the accompanying banner.

In a statement condemning the latest bottle throwing incident, Rangers also acknowledged the shameful, provocative display organised by the Union Bears in the Copeland Stand.

“We also acknowledge that the tifo displayed prior to kick-off crossed a line and was unacceptable. Our approach to supporter displays has always been built on trust, with the responsibility placed on groups to exercise good judgement.

“We will reflect on how these displays are managed and engage with supporter groups to ensure the right balance of trust, responsibility and oversight is maintained moving forward.”

The club have vowed to identify the individual responsible for throwing a bottle at a Celtic player after yet another incident at Ibrox. The Rangers hierarchy will know who to chin after the latest display from their ultras, who earned a ban from UEFA for a racist display against Fenerbahce.

Celtic conceded in the dying stages of the first half after Rangers hit them on the break. Adam Idah levelled up and the game finished up level, despite Daizen Maeda’s late chance to win the match.
