Rangers confirm Connor Goldson out for the season

Connor Goldson is officially out for the season after sustaining a (well-timed) injury in training, and may not (will magically) be fit for next campaign either, meaning this may well be the end for the defender at Rangers, period.

Speaking to the media, manager Philippe Clement did indeed offer the update Ibrox Noise expected, but it was a bit less played down than anticipated and the manager revealed Goldson is done for this season.

It’s very interesting – in 6 years Goldson hasn’t had a single injury in training, and just after he’s dropped for two matches and offers a media charm offensive suddenly he gets a bad one in training and is now done for the campaign?

Very interesting indeed.

Either way, we won’t see any more of the defender this season, and he won’t be on the bench either.

Clement said:

“Wednesday in training, Connor hurt his knee bad, he will be out for the rest of the season after a scan. It is a big blow, he has played 48 games this season, one of the leaders. He said to me, he wanted to be in the dressing room to support the boys.”

Bizarre. So he keeps his place in the dressing room despite the fact he’s not even fit?

Mercifully he’s out for the campaign now, and Rangers won’t have to suffer his appalling form.

The soundbites are odd as well – Clement drops him completely then calls his injury a big blow.

Can’t say that makes a lot of sense. But little-to-none of what Clement says these days does.
