West Ham are shaping up to have a busy January transfer window as the club look to balance the squad.
Although typically the club tends to avoid business in the new year period, mainly due to the volatile nature of pricing and desperation, it appears that the hierarchy accept that the squad needs significant work.
The serious injury sustained by Michail Antonio following a car accident and the homesickness from Niclas Fullkrug is forcing the club to prioritise bringing in a striker, with a top source at the club advising that the club are eying a ‘top-class’ player for that role.
This however will mean that West Ham will need to sell, as it’s clear that any movements in the transfer window will be funded by player sales, with Mohammed Kudus and Nayef Agerd understood to be the two players the club could look to cash in on.
Kudus is valued at £100m in January, so the realistic chance of a club, namely Arsenal or Newcastle, paying that level of value in January is unlikely, however it’s not ruled out.
It remains to be seen who the club will target as a new striker, however earlier reports suggest Middlesbrough forward Emmanuel Latte Lath is a player the club admire.
