West Ham need to start exploring options for January after a reported target has suffered an injury.

Club foe Calum Wilson, who has made a habit over the years of scoring against the Hammers, has been reported this week to be a target for Tim Steidten in the January transfer window.

It’s however hardly come to much surprise that the injury prone forward has suffered another big setback as he continued his work to recover from a long term layoff – something that may come as a relief to most.

Wilson is hardly a signing that would signal a club that is ambitious, it would in fact be another plaster to cover up a situation where the club have a host of aging and injury riddled squad members.

Adding Wilson would simply just add to the existing issue, with the club again guilty of failing to address the ongoing striker situation that seems to plague West Ham season after season.

Niclas Fullkrug wants out and could depart in the new year, while Michail Antonio faces a long spell on the sidelines, leaving the club desperately scrambling for a solution.

Thankfully, Calum Wilson will not be that fix and the club will hopefully set their sights higher than a quick fix to tee up an underwhelming end to an already difficult season.
