Inter Milan are starting to show clear signs of a new identity with their Club World Cup group stage win over River Plate.
Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, note how the Nerazzurri looked to use more aggressive physicality to get the best out of their technical quality in the 2-0 victory.
Inter Milan beat River Plate in their third and final match of the group stage of the Club World Cup.
It was not an easy win for the Nerazzurri. But it was their most impressive performance of the three matches they’ve played under Cristian Chivu as coach.
That win sets up a round of sixteen clash with Brazilian giants Fluminense.

In the view of Tuttosport, the most impressive aspect of Inter’s win was their physicality and grit.
River Plate brought an intensity to the match that was very much typical of South American football.
The Argentine side weren’t afraid to make highly aggressive challenges. They played right on the line of fouling.
But Inter Milan didn’t have any problems keeping up with this. They put in tough tackles of their own.
This was a platform for the Nerazzurri to win via their superior technical quality in the end.
