What could have ended as a night to remember for Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven has instead become the stuff of nightmares at Philips Stadium against Arsenal.
After seeing their way past Juventus in the Champions League playoff round, Boeren welcomed the Gunners across the North Sea for what was, on paper, an intriguing tie given the contextual circumstances.
Arsenal, without much of their attacking force, against a PSV side who may have looked good against Juve, but have struggled mightily on the homefront in the Eredivisie, and it has been the English side that have come out on top, and in a big way.
In Arsenal hitting the Dutch outfit for seven goals on their home patch, and with time left to spare, it is the first time PSV have ever allowed five goals or more at their ground during a European fixture, and the first time since September 1994 when they surrendered at least five.
Unless something magical happens, there is only one side set to advance.
