On Tuesday, news surfaced that Manchester United had made an offer for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. Lately, rumors have linked Ugarte with Italian clubs like AC Milan and Juventus.

However, clubs outside Serie A are also interested in the player. According to Loïc Tanzi of L’Equipe, PSG turned down Manchester United’s first offer for Ugarte, considering it insufficient.

Moreover, transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that the expectation is for Ugarte to have the possibility to leave PSG this summer. More information is coming out on this rumor from The Telegraph’s Jason Burt.

According to Burt, PSG are asking for €60 million for Ugarte, which matches what they paid for him last summer. PSG sources say they rejected Ugarte’s offer because it fell well short of their valuation.

Meanwhile, Manchester United maintains they’re only showing initial interest in Ugarte, with exploratory talks being the extent of their discussions so far.

Ugarte potentially leaving PSG is a real possibility, which would be welcome news for Manchester United and AC Milan. Back in May, Ugarte discussed his future and expressed a preference to remain with his current team despite the decreased playing time.

“We’ll see,” Ugarte told Amazon Prime. “I would love to [stay at PSG]. We’ll have to see. For now, I’m here and enjoying the end of the season.”
