The future of Xavi Simons (21) looks far from clear. The Dutchman reportedly has no interest in returning to Paris Saint-Germain, but nor do the French champions have any will to let him leave this summer – at least not permanently.
According to Le Parisien, Simons’ best opportunity looks as if it will be another loan away from the capital, as PSG look to avoid triggering a transfer clause inserted into their agreement to buy the player from PSV.
If PSG were to sell Simons this summer they would have to pay compensation to his previous club, and the French champions will stringently avoid having to share any future earnings on a player who will likely be sold for a significantly large sum in the future.
This situation will likely interest RB Leipzig who have not been shy about revealing their intentions to keep the talented midfielder for an extra season on loan.
