Liverpool are making plans to MOVE ON from Darwin Nunez in this summer’s transfer window. The Uruguay international has been at Anfield since summer 2022 but it looks like his spell at the club is coming to an end.
He scored only FIVE Premier League goals last season - and has made only one league start under Arne Slot in 2025. Nunez, 25, is reported to have turned down Al-Hilal in recent days - citing a desire to remain in Europe.
But if and when Nunez departs, then Liverpool will be seeking to acquire a new No9. Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro are just some of the names linked with a Merseyside arrival but the drum beat over Victor Osimhen has been growing louder in recent weeks.
The 26-year-old Nigerian is coming off the back of an exceptional season on loan in the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray. He fired in 37 goals in 41 games overall as Cimbom claimed the league and Turkish Cup double.
Still under contract with Napoli, Osimhen is available for a reported €70m this summer and is said to fancy the Premier League as his next move. Liverpool won’t have it easy if they decide to move - with Manchester United also thought to be keen.
But a recent report in GIVEMESPORT claims that Osimhen’s name is very much on the agenda for Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes.
“Victor Osimhen's name cropped up in a high-ranking transfer meeting at Anfield,” a report reads.
The same report also acknowledges that Gala are frontrunners for his signature at this stage and also warns about Osimhen’s salary demands.
He was previously demanding £400k per week from his new club - as much as Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah earn at Liverpool since signing their new deals.
“Liverpool have turned their attentions towards recruiting a proven goalscorer, but his wage demands would be a significant stumbling block,” the report continues.
However there are signs that the goal-getter would be prepared to compromise on his pay packet in order to secure a Premier League move.

Like Nunez, Osimhen this week REJECTED the chance to move to Al-Hilal, who wanted him for the FIFA Club World Cup.
“Osimhen may consider dropping his salary expectations - reported to be up to £400,000-a-week previously - if he wants to test himself at the very top after turning down the riches on offer in Saudi Arabia, leading to Liverpool and other admirers keeping tabs on his situation,” the report reads.
“Liverpool executives have brought him up as a possible signing as Slot goes in search of a frontman.”
