Watford and Sheffield Wed. face each other this Saturday at Vicarage Road in Matchweek 46 of the EFL Championship. The match will be broadcast live at 12:30 on Sky Sports +.
Watford have won 56 points to date and are currently in 13th position. In their last fixture, Tom Cleverley's team suffered a 2-1 reverse against Blackburn Rovers.
Sheffield Wednesday, meanwhile, have 57 points and lie in 12th. Danny Röhl's team drew 1-1 against Portsmouth last time out.
Tom Wicks - Golden Pages : Tom Cleverley's boys will be looking to finish the season with a much-needed win before swapping their boots for Birkenstocks.
Watford have been in a poor run of form and a positive end to the season could dissuage the owner from making a head coaching change.
The reverse fixture saw the Hornets take all three points from a thumping 6-2 win, four of which came from soon-to-depart striker Vakoun Bayo.
A higher octane, more attacking approach is sought by the fans before the curtain comes down on what must ultimately be considered a successful season, given the squad deficiencies. It could turn into a barn burner if the Hornets throw caution to the wind.
James Mappin (The WTID Podcast): The final game of the season. A chance to end the season in style. It's the most 'dead rubber' game you can get as 13th hosts 12th in the 'battle for the top half' up for grabs.
Watford away was Danny's first game in charge. We're hoping that it won't be his last, but it's becoming increasingly likely given the language he's been using to the media.
In terms of the game itself, I expect them to put in a good performance - for the fans if nothing else. A lot of the players that step foot on the pitch on Saturday might be doing so in a blue and white shirt for the final time this season, so they'd want to go out in style and try and overturn that 6-2 deficit from the return fixture.
