This led to a flurry of speculation over his future at the club, with Real Madrid emerging as one of the suitors for the young defender.

Andoni Iraola acknowledges Huijsen rumours

In a recent interaction, Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola acknowledged transfer speculation around Dean Huijsen, admitting that he is not surprised by the rumours.

“We are not surprised by the speculation, probably because he has already made his debut with the national team, has played well, and that is why there is more talk about him,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

Iraola has played a crucial role in Huijsen’s rise to prominence, notably poacing the Spaniard from Juventus for a fee of around €15 million.

Iraola has been wise in identifying Huijsen’s talents and maximising his potential by offering him the right role in the Bournemouth defence.

Talking about Huijsen’s rise to prominence, Iraola said, “He’s been playing regularly and I think he’s performed very well. He’s faced some very difficult strikers, but we already knew he was a very good player when he arrived this summer.”

Nevertheless, among all the clubs interested in the services of Huijsen, Real Madrid appear to be best-placed as the youngster is reportedly a huge fan of the club.

As a matter of fact, Los Blancos already want to build their defensive core around Huijsen, Raul Asencio and Eder Militao.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see how Huijsen’s transfer saga evolves in the coming months and whethe or not Iraola’s Bournemouth will be able to retain his services beyond the summer.
