PSG Sporting director Luis Campos is the subject of interest for Premier League clubs as the Portuguese’s contract expires next June, according to a report from Le Parisien. The outlet understands that at least two major Premier League sides are keen to acquire the services of Campos, as are Saudi Arabia for the organization of the 2034 FIFA World Cup. Campos joined PSG in 2022 as a replacement for Leonardo. The Brazilian has been dismissed amid divergences with Kylian Mbappé.
Despite some setbacks – including the departure of Mbappé as a free agent and some ill-fated signings such as Manuel Ugarte, Carlos Soler or Milan Skriniar – Campos’ track record as PSG Sporting director is globally positive. The former AS Monaco and Lille Sporting Advisor maintains a good relationship with head coach Luis Enrique.
Le Parisien adds that Campos would like to extend his stay in the French capital. On Friday before PSG’s home Ligue 1 clash against AS Monaco, Les Parisiens announced the contract renewals of Luis Enrique and three key players – Vitinha, Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi – and Campos was not on the scene, contrary to club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, despite playing a crucial role behind the scenes to get the deals done.
The outlet understands that Campos is already planning the next transfer window in the summer as if he would remain PSG Sporting director beyond June 30. However, Le Parisien reports that the Ligue 1 leaders have made contact with Andrea Berta. The Italian executive recently left his position as Atlético de Madrid’s Sporting Director. Berta is considered – alongside head coach Diego Simeone – as Atlético’s key man in their resurgence as a force to be reckoned with both in Spain and Europe in the past decade.
