Brighton are reportedly willing to send Evan Ferguson out on loan in the January transfer window.

The Republic of Ireland striker has struggled for gametime under new manager Fabian Hurzeler, starting just once in the Premier League this season.

It’s been difficult for the 20-year-old to get a look-in given the impressive form of the Seagulls’ frontline. Danny Welbeck has occupied the centre-forward position and scored six goals, while Joao Pedro has scored four goals while operating in a support role.

Ferguson became just the fourth 18-year-old to score a Premier League hat-trick when he put three past Newcastle United in September last year but has only found the net twice then.

The former Bohemians forward sustained an injury in that game against the Magpies and has struggled for fitness ever since.

Ferguson picked up an ankle ligament against Chelsea in December last year which eventually required him to undergo surgery in April and miss most of pre-season.

With his opportunities evidently limited, Brighton will make him ‘available on loan’ in January, according to The Telegraph.

While it is claimed that the Sussex outfit ‘do not want to sell Ferguson’, a number of Premier League clubs would be open to signing the youngster for the second half of the season.
