Ole Werner is set to take charge of his first Bundesliga game as RB Leipzig head coach when his side play Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Friday night. Werner is expected to make just one change from the team that beat Sandhausen in the DFB Pokal last weekend.
Péter Gulácsi has been selected as the club’s No. 1 goalkeeper for the 2025/26 season which will see the Hungarian replace Maarten Vandevoordt. Other than that, Werner is expected to name the same line-up, although Kicker note that Johan Bakayoko and Ezechiel Banzuzi – both of whom came on as substitutes last weekend – are pushing for a place in the starting XI.
Despite Chelsea continuing to push to sign Xavi Simons, the Dutchman will start for the Saxony club. Although Amadaou Haidara and Timo Werner have no future at RB Leipzig and aren’t expected to be named in Werner’s matchday squad.
Péter Gulácsi – Ridle Baku, Willi Orban, Castello Lukeba, David Raum – Nicolas Seiwald, Xaver Schlager – Yan Diomande, Xavi Simons, Antonio Nusa – Loïs Openda
