Ange Postecoglou believe “no one” can say Spurs did not make good signings in the summer despite a disappointing season so far.
Tottenham sit 11th in the Premier League table ahead of their 20th Premier League game of the season against Newcastle on Saturday.
They brought in Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, and Wilson Odobert in the summer, and Postecoglou says his side’s struggles are not down to their transfer business.
“Hindsight is an easy thing but I still feel the players we brought in (are good acquisitions),” he said. “No one will tell me that Dom Solanke or Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Wilson (Odobert) are not good acquisitions for us.
“In the world of hindsight everything looks so much easier but that’s not the world I live in. I live in the real world and I think the business we did was good and medium and long-term it will be fantastic for this football club. We got some great players in.”
Spurs spent over £120 million on new faces this summer but many of their new signings, and other key members of the squad, have suffered from injuries through the season.
Postecoglou says things would be different if he had players fit: “I didn’t expect to have this kind of attrition in terms of the playing ranks. Even if two of our defenders, whether it was Vic (Vicario) and one central defender, were fit through this period, I’m sure we wouldn’t be in the spot we’re in.”
