Pontus Almqvist is the latest name to be linked with Roma ahead of this year’s summer transfer window.

The Swedish winger recently concluded his loan spell at Lecce with 3 goals and 3 assists to his name.

Faced with an imminent return to Russia, Almqvist is hoping to remain in Italy and part ways with Rostov, his parent club.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Almqvist’s agents have offered him to Roma in the past days.

The Giallorossi seem to be interested in the 24-year-old and, along with Fiorentina, have made further inquiries about the player’s availability for next season.

With Rostov the Swedish winger has a contract that is valid for another year, until 2025, but due to the war situation and the ad hoc rules envisaged by UEFA he can go on a free loan even one year before the deadline.

In terms of characteristics, writes the newspaper, he has a bit of everything that Daniele De Rossi is looking for in his attacking wingers: he is fast, he dribbles, he likes to play one-on-ones but also come back to look for a dialogue with the striker or a shot on goal.
