One player that Chelsea have been looking to sell is now going to the Club World Cup with them this summer, which is just odd.

Yesterday was a bit of a wild day for Chelsea Football Club and in all honesty, they became a bit of a laughing stock after they publicly failed to get two new signings in the door.

Chelsea were chasing a deal to sign goalkeeper Mike Maignan before the Club World Cup starts, with the transfer deadline running out at 7pm last night. It was announced quite early in the day by Fabrizio Romano that the deal for Chelsea to sign Maignan was OFF!

So then Chelsea tried to sign Jamie Gittens from Dortmund and that one became the big headline news of the afternoon. But they couldn’t even get that one done either even after throwing in a late offer to sign him.

It was not a great day for Chelsea at all and the club managed to annoy and frustrate their entire fan base once again.

Club World Cup is now the focus

Chelsea play their first Club World Cup game this coming Monday night on the 16th of June against Los Angeles FC, and all focus is now on that for now at least.

We will soon hear the official squad being confirmed, but there is some leaks to the news on who will be going and who wont be going already, and according to Simon Johnson of The Athletic, Christopher Nkunku is expected to be IN Chelsea’s CWC squad.

Nkunku to be sold?

Nkunku has been consistently and heavily linked to moving away from Chelsea in previous windows and again in this summer’s window, as Johnson states above.

So it’s very odd that he is now going out with Chelsea to play in this competition.
