Damian Cech, son of former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, has signed his first professional contract at Fulham.

The young goalkeeper followed in the footsteps of his father as he made his debut for the Czech Republic Under-18s in August last year at just 15 years old.

Now 16, Cech, who previously played for Chelsea’s academy, has signed professional terms at Fulham as he seeks to emulate his father's historic legacy.

Announcing his new contract, Cech posted the words "forever grateful" on Instagram alongside a picture of him accompanied by his parents.

Before deciding to focus on a career in football, Cech was a netminder for the ice hockey club Guildford Phoenix's Under-9s team, where his father played following his retirement from football in 2019.

He then joined Fulham in 2024 after a spell in Chelsea's much-revered academy, where he starred alongside Isago da Silva, the son of former Blues defender Thiago Silva.

Cech was born in 2009, while his father was playing for Chelsea. The family have lived in London since.

Petr enjoyed a brief stint in the executive suite at Chelsea after retiring, joining as a technical advisor in 2019. He left the club after Todd Boehly and the Clearlake consortium took over in 2022.

Cech is not the first person whose father has connections to Chelsea to have signed terms with Fulham. The teenager’s deal comes years after Jose Mourinho Jr, himself a goalkeeper, signed a two-year scholarship with the Cottagers.
