Manchester City’s breakthrough talent for the ongoing campaign, Oscar Bobb can feature in five positions for the club, according to his manager.

Pep Guardiola offered a tactical insight into his plans for the Norway international after the 20-year-old further staked his claim for a consistent starting spot in the Catalan’s line-ups during the second-half of the season.

Bobb – who has played somewhat of a bit-part role in the season so far – scored the winning goal in the 2-3 comeback victory over Newcastle on Saturday evening, combining with the returning Kevin De Bruyne late in the contest.

Appearing as a second-half substitute following De Bruyne’s equalising effort at St James’ Park, Oscar Bobb received an excellent assist from the Belgian playmaker to round Magpies goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and claim all three points for the Premier League champions.

Having replaced Jeremy Doku in the game, Bobb featured largely as a left-sided forward in a role that his head coach believes is just one of five positions the Norway international can contribute in for Manchester City this season.

“He can play in five positions; striker, right-wing, left-wing, the pockets,” Pep Guardiola told reporters after the game. “He’s so dynamic, the work ethic is unbelievable.”

He continued, “Here (against Newcastle) in the Carabao Cup when we came, the first-half was outstanding the way he played. He doesn’t feel much the pressure; I don’t know what happens with the players from the Academy.

“Look at Cole (Palmer), he’s doing really well at Chelsea, I’m so happy for him. And look at all the players; Rico (Lewis) when he came, and Phil (Foden), and he (Oscar Bobb) is important for us, the Club, to bring players from the Academy and help us; when Jack (Grealish) had problems this season, John Stones, and now Manu (Akanji), Kevin (De Bruyne) out, Erling (Haaland) out.

“An important part of the season is November, December, a lot of games, important players were not there! And Oscar helped us, and that is great, it’s really, really great.”

Oscar Bobb’s next opportunity to take on further crucial minutes for Manchester City could come in the Emirates FA Cup, with a clash away to Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur coming immediately after the winter break and planned training camp in Abu Dhabi.

City also host Burnley in the Premier League this month, having already recorded victories against Huddersfield Town in the third round of the aforementioned cup competition, and at Newcastle last weekend.
