Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Benfica midfielder João Neves for a reported fee of €70m.
The highly-rated 19-year-old has signed an five-year contract at the Parc des Princes, where he will join his Portugal teammate Vitinha in the midfield of Luis Enrique’s side.
Neves, who has been capped nine times at international level and was selected for EURO 2024, leaves his boyhood club after eight years at the club, two of which were spent in the first team.
He quickly became a regular and went onto make 75 appearances, scoring four times, and helping Benfica to a record 38th league title in 2022/23.
There yet could be more midfield movements in the French capital, with Neves’ arrival potentially leading to the exits of Fabián Ruiz and Manuel Ugarte, who have been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United respectively.
