Panathinaikos have hijacked Trabzonspor’s pursuit of PSG midfielder Renato Sanches | OneFootball

PSG midfielder Renato Sanches (28) is expected to join Panathinaikos on loan, according to a report from L’Equipe. The Portugal international was of interest to Trabzonspor. The Türkish Süper Lig outfit was touted as the favorite to land Sanches, but the outlet understands that the former Lille and Bayern Munich midfielder will eventually sign for the Athens-based side. RMC Sport adds that Sanches favoured a move to Panathinaikos rather than to Trabzonspor.

Sanches returned to Paris this summer after spending last season on loan at Benfica, where he featured 21 times in all competitions. However, the Portugal international has not been integrated into Luis Enrique’s squad and was instead placed in the club’s ‘loft’ – the group of unwanted players expected to leave before the end of the transfer window.

Sanches, whose contract at PSG runs until 2027, joined the Ligue 1 champions from Lille in 2022 but has struggled to establish himself at the Parc des Princes.
