Mikel Arteta has choices to make with his front three on Tuesday night, as Arsenal take on Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Raheem Sterling is suspended, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are injured, but Bukayo Saka is back, along with Gabriel Martinelli, Ethan Nwaneri, and Leandro Trossard. Mikel Merino also remains an option up front, after playing there regularly in recent weeks.

With Trossard in particular, there are a few options. Arteta could start the Belgian ahead of Martinelli on the left, or ahead of Merino up front. Or he could play all three, with Merino taking up a midfield role as he did initially against Everton.

Wales head coach Craig Bellamy evidently believes Trossard should play at least some role in the match, after his goal against Everton at the weekend.

“He’s an incredible player,” Bellamy said. “He can play wide, can play him in the pockets, but what I like about him… left, right foot, takes the shot early as well.

“I’m hoping I don’t have to come across him in the early part of June! He’s fully on my radar, he’s an outstanding player. There’s no two ways about it.”

Bellamy was referencing Wales’ upcoming match against Belgium, with his team playing against Trossard’s country on June 9th.

They have a match against Liechtenstein on June 6th before that, but the Belgium away game is clearly their big one in the upcoming break. Bellamy will be hoping Trossard’s form dips a bit before then.
