Amine Harit (27) remains one of the veterans of an Olympique de Marseille squad that has experienced frequent upheaval. It had felt like his time at the club had come to an end in the summer when all players were reportedly on the market as Les Phocéens searched for a reset.
According to a report by L’Équipe, Marseille had offered him a move to Genoa in August. However, Harit rejected the approach and instead remained in the south in a decision which looked to bear fruit for both the club and the player.
Harit responded well to new head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s system as he started in eight of the first nine games of the season, scoring twice and assisting three. The turning point occurred in Le Classique when the midfielder was sent off early against Paris Saint-Germain.
Since then (the 27th of October), Harit has not featured in a single game for the club. And while he suffered a calf injury that ruled him out of action for November, he has not found it easy to win back his spot in the team despite De Zerbi now fielding two attacking midfielders in a 3-4-2-1. Harit finds himself behind Adrien Rabiot and Mason Greenwood in the pecking order of a squad that requires very little rotation due to Marseille’s lack of European commitments.
L’Équipe writes that Marseille are looking to create some room in their budget by selling players and would only need a seven-figure offer to release the midfielder this winter. While Harit is in no hurry to move, it’s reported that he will study any offer that comes.
