What do you predict with the final 2024/25 Premier League table?

Just over a week of the season still left to go.

In eight days time Newcastle United will conclude their season with a home game against Everton on Sunday 25 May with a 4pm kick-off.

An intense period of games during May for the six teams competing to get those final four Champions League spots.

Friday night seeing disappointing but predictable outcomes.

A feeble Spurs rolling over and losing 2-0 at Villa, though they offered some false hope when not conceding until the 59th minute, Konsa opening the scoring and then Kamara adding the second on 73 minutes.

Man U looked a little better but no wonder against a Chelsea side carrying minimal threat, indeed, very few chances at either end. Just when it looked for sure it was heading towards a tedious but satisfying (for Newcastle United fans and those of other clubs chasing Champions League places) goalless draw, a rare moment of quality on 71 minutes saw James pick out Cucurella to head the winner.

So this is how the Premier League table now currently looks on the morning of Saturday 17 May 2025 after Friday’s results:

As you can see, Arsenal on 68 points and two above NUFC, then it is only four points separating Newcastle United in third down to Forest in seventh.

However, there are now three teams on 66 points, Newcastle only above Chelsea and Villa on goal difference.

Man City another point below and Forest four points off that trio. This pair and Newcastle United (and Arsenal) with a game in hand of course.

When it comes to predicting what that final Premier League table will look like after the 38th round of fixtures in May 2025, Opta have done some updated analysis after this past weekend’s results.

Using their latest data simulations, Opta analysis has shown this as the most likely 2024/25 Premier League table come the end of the season – Predicted final table as of this morning (Saturday 17 May) 2025:

As you can see, Arsenal predicted to get 72 points and second place in the final Premier League table.

Then it couldn’t be much closer, with Opta forecasting only two points to cover the next four places in the final table.

Opta now predicting Newcastle United to end up third on 69 points, then Man City fourth on 68 points.

Having both won last night, both Villa and Chelsea now predicted to end up on 67 points but Villa marginally seen as more likely to finish on that number of points. However, the reality is, that if those two ended up both finishing on the same number of points, Chelsea have a much better goal difference and would therefore end up above Villa in the final Premier League table.

As for Forest, their Champions League hopes appear to be falling apart, with the draw against Leicester meaning they have taken only five points from the last possible eighteen. Opta seeing them ending up seventh on 64 points, three behind the Champions League places.

Eddie Howe’s team needing three points to guarantee Champions League football, whilst if Newcastle United win their last two games, they will be sure of second place.

The remaining matches for the Champions League chasing clubs:

Arsenal 68 points GD +33

Newcastle (H), Southampton (A)

Newcastle United 66 points GD +23

Arsenal (A), Everton (H)

Chelsea 66 points GD +20

Villa 66 points GD +9

Man City 65 points GD +24
