One member of the midfield ranks at Real Madrid stood up and made himself counted, in the club’s showdown with Liverpool.
Los Blancos are of course fresh off an altogether underwhelming outing on the continent.
After making the trip to Anfield for a Champions League meeting with the aforementioned Liverpool, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops were condemned to the wrong side of a 2-0 result.
A whole host of Real Madrid’s stars struggled over the course of the 90 minutes on Merseyside, chief amongst them Kylian Mbappé, Ferland Mendy, and Arda Güler.
As alluded to above, though, whilst others toiled, one member of Ancelotti’s ranks shone bright.
Prior to limping out of proceedings early in the 2nd-half with an injury, Eduardo Camavinga was in the midst of nothing short of a masterclass in the middle of the park.
The France international time and time again won back possession courtesy of a remarkable combination of reading of the game, bite in the tackle, and athleticism.
On the other side of the ball, Camavinga was equally superb, his touch flawless, and passing pinpoint, allowing the youngster to act as a constant outlet for the visitors inside their own half.
All told, Wednesday’s trip to England proved one to forget for Real Madrid.
But for Camavinga, it saw the midfielder prove himself a reliable source of absolute excellence once more.
