Last season, 114 goals were scored from penalties in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, with a 79.7% success rate. In total, this represents 11% of the total number of goals scored in 2022-23 (1029), a sign of the importance and decisive nature of this specialty.
So, when it comes to drawing up your fantasy team for the 2023-24 Ligue 1 Uber Eats season, it's important to take into account the players who take penalties - especially those who don't play in a forward position.
Savanier in expert mode
For example, last season, midfielders Savanier (MHSC), Frankowski (RCL), van den Boomen (TFC), Blas (FCN), Bourigeaud (SRFC), Cham (CF63) and Bentaleb (SCO) all scored more than once from the spot. A real asset.
Players with a 100% penalty success rate in 22-23 (at least two penalties taken):
6/6: Téji Savanier
5/5: Romain Del Castillo
3/3: Przemyslaw Frankowski
2/2: Neymar, Nabil Bentaleb, Benjamin Bourigeaud, Mohamed Cham
As for the forwards, the specialists are well known. Last season, Jonathan David (LOSC) set a record with ten successful penalties (11 attempts). The Canadian did better than the historic penalty takers Alexandre Lacazette (OL) and Wissam Ben Yedder (ASM), who are still formidable.
Penalty scorers in 22-23 (among players currently active in Ligue 1 Uber Eats):
1. Jonathan David (LOSC): 10
2. Alexandre Lacazette (OL), Téji Savanier (MHSC): 6
4. Romain Del Castillo (SB29), Wissam Ben Yedder (ASM): 5
6. Grejohn Kyei (CF63): 3
Top penalty-takers in Ligue 1 Uber Eats:
1. Wissam Ben Yedder (ASM): 32/40 (80% success rate)
2. Alexandre Lacazette (OL): 26/32 (81.3%)
3. Neymar Jr (PSG): 23/26 (88.5%)

Who are the marksmen for the 2023-24 season?
So, with the season set to kick off on Friday, here's a look at the penalty-takers to watch out for in the new Ligue 1 Uber Eats season.
If the hierarchy is to be defined at the start of a new season, the options appear more or less uncertain from one club to another. While AS Monaco can count on the top scorer in this exercise among their current players (Ben Yedder, 32/40 in Ligue 1 Uber Eats), Toulouse FC must replace their two specialists who left during the transfer window: Spierings (7 penalties scored in 20/21, Ligue 2 BKT) and van den Boomen (4/4 last year).
Will this mean extra responsibility for Thijs Dallinga in his new No.9 jersey? The Dutchman scored a penalty in the pre-season friendly against Osasuna, and converted a penalty during last season's brilliant Coupe de France campaign.
PEA on the spot for OM?
The same goes for OM, who, despite having five different penalty-takers last season, need to find a successor to Alexis Sanchez for this new campaign. A mission for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang? While he missed his last two attempts in the Premier League, he has a positive record over his career in England (9/14).
