Bild reports that Ole Werner could cost RB Leipzig €9m to hire due to a clause in his Werder Bremen contract.

Leipzig is in negotiations over the signing of Werner as they continue to look for a head coach after interim Zsolt Löw left at the end of the season. Leipzig had been rejected by several candidates before they ended up with Werner.

As Werner still has a contract at Bremen until 2026, Leipzig will have to pay a release clause for the coach, and that is said to be worth around €9m. Leipzig does not want to pay such a fee for a head coach who only has a year left on his contract, so they will try to negotiate the fee down.

It is also reported that there is another unnamed coaching candidate on Leipzig’s list.

Similar to Bayern Munich last summer, Leipzig is struggling to attract candidates who could fill their coaching role. Their absence from European football next season has likely played a role in being able to attract top candidates.
