Tommy Doyle is set to join Wolverhampton Wanderers in a permanent deal on the first of July. The young midfielder has spent this season on loan at Gary O’Neil’s side. His permanent move was confirmed via mancity.com this morning.

Tommy Doyle has made 30 appearances in competitions for Wolves this season. He has scored one goal for Gary O’Neil’s side so far his campaign. But statistics don’t tell the full story of Doyle’s influence this season. The youngster has become an important piece of Wolves midfield, and his form has seen his loan move become a permanent deal.

Speaking on Wolves official website, the clubs sporting director Matt Hobbs was thrilled to see Doyle move to the club on a permanent deal. He said: “We’ve never seen Tommy as a player on loan, and he hasn’t acted like one. He’s gradually earned more minutes and become more important, which I think is an ideal first year. What he offers to our midfield is something different to the others, so there was a huge amount of inevitability to this. He buys into who we are as a club and what we’re trying to create culturally within the group.”

While Tommy Doyle didn’t get the opportunity to make a lasting impression at Manchester City, he is yet another success story from City’s academy. The young midfielder has progressed through City’s academy ranks, which has given him the opportunity to build his professional career.
