Alexander Isak has been forced to withdraw from the Sweden squad and will miss their get together and matches in June.
An official announcement (see below) revealing the news.
Sweden boss and former Newcastle United striker, Jon Dahl Tomasson, has called up Jordan Larsson and Gustaf Nilsson, after the NUFC striker’s withdrawal.
Hopefully good news, with the official announcement stating; ‘Newcastle striker Alexander Isak will be forced to withdraw due to a minor injury.’
With his recent injury issues and performances where Alexander Isak was clearly nowhere near 100 per cent. Fingers crossed that this is a precaution and simply looking after him, let Isak rest so he can come back in August for Newcastle United fully firing and in September for Sweden.
The two games in June are only friendlies as well, so surely an easy decision all round.
Official Sweden announcement – 27 May 2025:
‘Alexander Isak withdraws from the upcoming national team training camp. National team coach Jon Dahl Tomasson calls up Jordan Larsson, FC Copenhagen, and Gustaf Nilsson, Club Brugge, to the squad.
In early June, the men’s national team will hold its last training camp of the spring. During the training camp, two friendly matches await. On National Day, there will be a match against Hungary away and on June 10, Algeria will come to Strawberry Arena.
