AS Roma have signed Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath (21) on loan, both clubs have announced. The former Saint-Etienne youth product has joined Roma on a loan move with an option to buy, whose valuation remains undisclosed. The France U21 international left formative club Saint-Etienne in 2022 to sign for Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg over a €13m move.

Gourna-Douath has featured 23 times this season. He is tied with Red Bull Salzburg over a contract set to expire in 2027. L’Equipe understands that Roma head coach Claudio Ranieri was looking to bolster his midfield options. Gourna-Douath will link up with France international midfielder Manu Koné with the Giallorossi. He will wear the No. 27 for Roma. Gourna-Douath was reportedly a target for Rennes.
