Record-European champions Real Madrid were dealt one of the toughest draws in the Champions League this season.
The Spanish giants, who are coming on the back of a disappointing campaign under Carlo Ancelotti, have been drawn against European heavyweights such as Liverpool, Manchester City and even Juventus.
Benfica, Marseille and AS Monaco are also there along with Olympiacos and Kazakh club Kairat Almaty, whose players celebrated after being drawn with Real Madrid for the league phase.
In the wake of the draw, UEFA has released the official fixture list for the Champions League this season, with Real Madrid kickstarting their campaign on September 16.
Xabi Alonso’s men will start their campaign with a home game against Olympique Marseille, who were linked with a move for midfield outcast Dani Ceballos this month but the move did not materialise.

From there, Xabi Alonso’s side faces one of the trickiest away trips in Europe when they travel more than 6,000 kilometres to Kazakhstan to take on Kairat Almaty on September 30.
The month of October will not get any easier, with Juventus visiting Madrid on October 22, followed by the blockbuster showdown against Liverpool at Anfield on November 4.
Real Madrid will have another tricky away fixture at Olympiacos on November 26, before they round off the calendar year with an eye-catching clash against Manchester City at the Bernabeu on December 10.
Real Madrid’s first UCL game in 2026 will see them lock horns with AS Monaco on January 20, before closing out the league phase away at Benfica on January 28.
