After his substitution earlier in the week against Atalanta, Real Madrid have officially confirmed that superstar forward Kylian Mbappe has suffered a thigh injury.
“Following the tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappe by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the thigh of his left leg. Pending evolution,” the statement from the club read.
Starting on Tuesday night against Atalanta, Mbappe got Real Madrid up and running with a goal in the tenth minute.
However, a little after the half-hour mark, the French megastar appeared to be in major discomfort and was eventually replaced by Rodrygo Goes.
Carlo Ancelotti downplayed the injury after the game, stating that it was an overload, but Mbappe has indeed suffered an injury in his left thigh.
While a firm update about the time he will spend on the timeline is yet to emerge, reports earlier today indicated that Mbappe will miss Saturday’s La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano but is not ruled out of next week’s FIFA Intercontinental Cup final.
Whether that continues to be the case now remains to be seen.
