Nick Pope – Remains out with his knee injury.

Jamaal Lascelles – Long-term injured and still unavailable.

Callum Wilson – His latest hamstring injury seeing the striker out for the next couple of months.

Sean Longstaff – Suspended for this Brentford match after picking up two yellows in the competition.

So at least six Newcastle United players unavailable for this cup quarter-final.

On the positive side, Eddie Howe not reporting any new injuries following the 4-0 win over Leicester.

Lewis Miley played just 45 minutes in last night’s reserve match, Eddie Howe indicating he will be in the matchday squad for Brentford.

Eddie Howe on Sven Botman’s return for the reserves last night:

“He was good last night, he seemed in a good place, we exchanged messages.

“His movement was good, commanding and a big presence on the pitch.

“We have missed him.

“That was a good step for him to get back on the pitch.

“We are looking at the end of December or start of January, give him a few more games to get him back on track.”
