Official: Hatim Essaouabi joins Gent for four seasons | OneFootball

The Moroccan defender arrives in the Belgian Pro League with ambition and proven technical skills.

Hatim Essaouabi has officially signed a four-year contract with Gent this Thursday, July 24. The Moroccan player joins from AS FAR in Morocco, after successfully passing his medical in Ghent.

His arrival in Ghent had been in the works for several weeks. On the eve of the 2025/26 Pro League season kick-off, Gent has confirmed the transfer of Hatim Essaouabi, recruited from AS FAR, the club from Morocco's capital. Champion of the 2023 Botola Pro and runner-up in the last two seasons with AS FAR, the 24-year-old defender joins the Buffalos with a reputation as a player boasting strong physical abilities.

"Hatim is a defender with solid physical qualities. He is fast, well-positioned, shows great fighting spirit and is strong in the air," said Ivan Leko, KAA Gent's head coach.
