Bundesliga returnees Hamburg have made their second signing of the summer with the arrival of Jordan Torunarigha (27) from KAA Gent on a free transfer.
Upon his arrival at HSV, Torunarigha said: “I know the Bundesliga already and I’m really looking forward to returning to play in this special league once again, especially for a club with the tradition of HSV.
“The people in charge made a great deal of effort to instil me with a positive feeling. I can’t wait to get to know my new teammates, the coaches and other staff, the fans and the city. I aim to utilise all my strengths and experience to assist us in enjoying a successful season together, in which we achieve our goals.”
Torunarigha significantly strengthens Hamburg’s defence upon their return to the top-flight following their relegation in 2018. The Nigerian made 73 Bundesliga appearances during his spell at Hertha BSC before joining KAA Gent in 2022.
HSV board member for sport Stefan Kuntz, added: “Jordan is a clear-headed, professional and mature character.
“He has taken another significant step forward in terms of his development, characterised by heading and tackling prowess, which combine well with his good turn of pace. Jordan matches our profile of requirements thanks to his all-round defensive capabilities and ability to play out from the back.”
