Chelsea have officially confirmed the travelling squad for their next Europa Conference League match tonight against Astana.
And it’s a beautiful site to see a massive TWELVE academy players in this squad, with many of them hoping to get more than just a trip away to Kazakhstan this week!
Chelsea have had to make a trip that will be 7,000 miles there and back on a Thursday night, just three days before they play their next Premier League match on Sunday. So I guess many people will now understand a lot more why they decided to buy enough quality players to be able to field two completely different senior lineups. But for this game, you can probably call this the C-Team squad but with some B-Team players in there as well.
Clearly not all of these young lads will even get on the pitch, but even still, it is going to be a great experience for them being in a Chelsea European squad, even if they do have to travel a huge distance to get there. Experiences like this can be vital for their development.
Chelsea have revealed the OFFICIAL travelling squad:
● Goalkeepers: Filip Jorgensen, Lucas Bergstrom, Max Merrick
● Defenders: Axel Disasi, Tosin Adarabioyo, Renato Veiga, Josh Acheampong, Harrison Murray-Campbell, Richard Olise, Kaiden Wilson
● Midfielders: Carney Chukwuemeka, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Kiano Dyer, Sam Rak-Sakyi, Harvey Vale
● Forwards: Pedro Neto, Ato Ampah, Tyrique George, Marc Guiu, Shumaira Mheuka
Pedro Neto is obviously there because he is suspended for the game against Brentford on Sunday. But the rest of them are B-Team players at Chelsea right now or players from the academy.
Josh Acheampong is also even set to start the game after a breakthrough with new contract negotiations.
