Le Mans FC has announced that Brazilian investment firm OutField has secured a share in the Ligue 2 side. Le Mans have achieved promotion after finishing second in the third-tier National 1 last season. Le Mans FC, whose Marie-Marvingt stadium is built inside the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, have announced that former Formula 1 drivers Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen will take part in the club’s new strategic partnership. Club president Thierry Gomez is expected to remain the majority shareholder.
Former world ATP No. 1 Novak Djokovic also joins the list of investors in Le Mans FC. “The partnership marks a new milestone in the history of the Sarthe club, in line with the ambitious vision led by Thierry Gomez: to continue to grow Le Mans FC sustainably in French football and make it the pride of the people of Le Mans, building on the city’s unique sporting heritage“, the club wrote in their statement.
Ouest-France adds that OutField president Pedro Oliveira will be joined in this venture by Oakberry CEO Giorgios Frangulis. “Felipe Massa, Novak Djokovic and Kevin Magnussen are here for Le Mans FC. They believe it’s possible to do something great here.”
