La Liga champions Barcelona have on Friday announced a departure from the club’s reserve team ranks.
The player to have brought a close to his stint in Blaugrana colours? Aleix Garrido.
Youngster Garrido had for his part seen his name take its place centre stage in the media chatter surrounding Barcelona over recent days.
As much came after widespread reports were forthcoming, confirming that the 21-year-old was ready to move on upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the month.
Garrido has been on the books in Catalunya’s capital since all the way back in 2012, and acted as captain for Barca Atlètic this past season.
As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms on Friday, though, the Spanish youth international has indeed made the call to depart this summer:
‘Aleix Garrido will not continue at FC Barcelona next season. The 21-year-old player and captain of Barça Atlètic is ending a 13-season spell at the Club, from joining as a youth player to making his first-team debut.
‘The Club wishes him the best of luck in the future, both personally and professionally.’
