Official: Atlético Madrid announce 2nd transfer deal in space of 24 hours | OneFootball

The busy opening to the summer transfer window being enjoyed by La Liga giants Atlético Madrid has on Wednesday continued.

This comes amid confirmation of a deal for a fresh addition to the club’s midfield ranks.

The player set to add to Diego Simeone’s engine room options for the campaign ahead? Johnny Cardoso.

The name of American international Cardoso has of course proven a prominent one in the media chatter surrounding Atlético Madrid for several weeks now.

This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the Rojiblancos had kicked into gear efforts to bring the 23-year-old in from La Liga rivals Real Betis.

Negotiations between the clubs, in turn, had been ongoing for some time now.

And as alluded to above, on Wednesday, less than 24 hours on from announcing an agreement for the signing of Thiago Almada, Atléti have done likewise for Cardoso.

As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the capital club:

‘Atlético de Madrid and Real Betis Balompié have reached an agreement for the transfer of João Lucas de Souza ‘Johnny’ Cardoso, a 23-year-old midfielder who has signed with our club until 2030.’
