Aston Villa have signed PSG striker Marco Asensio (29) on loan, both clubs have announced. The Spaniard underwent a medical with the Premier League side this Sunday. Aston Villa were looking to bolster Unai Emery’s options upfront. The Birmingham-based outfit parted ways with Colombian centre-forward Jhon Duran and Argentine attacking midfielder Emiliano Buendia this winter transfer window.

Marco Asensio’s loan move includes no option to make his switch to Villa Park permanent. The Spaniard joined PSG as a free agent upon the expiry of his Real Madrid contract eighteen months ago. His stint at PSG has been mostly marred by frequent injuries and dips in form. He has logged seven goals and 11 assists in 47 games with Les Parisiens. Asensio progressively played a peripheral role under the tutelage of Luis Enrique.

Asensio could make his Aston Villa this Sunday at home against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.
