Dan Friedkin, owner of Championnat National 2 side AS Cannes, has reached an agreement to purchase Premier League side AS Cannes.
Friedkin, also owner of Serie A side AS Roma, has reached an agreement to purchase the Liverpool-based club, currently second-bottom of the Premier League. The agreement was announced by Everton, via a press release. The Friedkin Group’s purchase is subject to regulatory approval, which is not thought to be problematic, but which may yet take several weeks.
In the press release, a spokesperson for the Friedkin Group said that they were “pleased to have reached an agreement to become the custodians of [the] historic football club.” The agreement comes after the AS Cannes owners pulled out of talks to sign Everton several weeks ago.
When Friedkin initially pulled out, Olympique Lyonnais owner John Textor became the favourite to buy Everton. The American was looking to sell his minority share in Crystal Palace in order to finance the deal. He had been looking to do so for several weeks, however, he was overtaken by compatriot Friedkin, who re-entered talks.
