Nottingham Forest travel to West Ham this afternoon in a must-win game for the visitors.
Forest’s hopes of Champions League football are hanging by a thread and defeat at the London Stadium would end their pursuit of a place in Europe’s elite.
Though European football has been secured for the first time since 1995, a downturn in form during the run-in has seen Forest slide down to seventh. A win tonight will set up a final-day shootout with Chelsea for Europa League football at the very least.
West Ham’s season has been one to forget. Currently 15th in the table, the Hammers are aiming to secure consecutive Premier League wins for just the second time this season. Graham Potter’s side impressed to win 2-0 at Manchester United last weekend.
Taiwo Awoniyi will not play again this season following his concerning abdominal injury. The Nigerian collided with the post during last week’s draw with Leicester and attempted to play on despite being in visible discomfort.
Further tests determined the severity of the issue and the forward was placed in an induced coma after undergoing urgent surgery. It was revealed Awoniyi had ruptured his intestine.
The incident has again raised questions over the offside rule, with no flag raised despite Anthony Elanga clearly being offside in the build-up to the incident.
Elsewhere, there has been no update on whether Murillo or Callum Hudson-Odoi are fit to return.
