Elliot Anderson put Nuno Espírito Santo's side ahead after just five minutes when he rifled a shot from the edge of the area after being teed up by Nicolás Domínguez.

Poacher appeared to have turned provider a short while later as Anderson fed Chris Wood for a strike which was later chalked off by VAR for an offside in the build-up.

The visitors finally went further ahead through a well-worked move that saw Wood beat Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven to meet an Anthony Elanga cross.

Spurs regrouped at the half-time interval and almost halved their deficit through Dejan Kulusevski's header but saw it cleared on the line by Harry Toffolo.

Ange Postecoglou's side continued to pile the pressure on through a Richarlison header which Matz Sels was able to claw away following Pedro Porro's delivery.

The Brazilian finally found the target from another Porro cross to give the Lilywhites hopes of a late fightback at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But Forest held on to return to third in the Premier League table to boost their European ambitions while their hosts continue to languish in 16th.
