In addition to Hugo Ekitike, Manchester United are also keeping close tabs on RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

The Red Devils succeeded in signing Matheus Cunha who was unveiled on Thursday, and they remain optimistic in recruiting Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

Nevertheless, United’s quest to sign a new centre-forward hasn’t been as straightforward, with twists and twists impeding INEOS from finding an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund.

The Old Trafford outfit had at one time identified Liam Delap as their ideal target, especially due to his relatively affordable price. However, the Englishman eventually chose Chelsea.

Man Utd then turned their attention to Viktor Gyokeres who rose to stardom under the guidance of Ruben Amorim. However, the Reds have been bluntly told that a €70 million package won’t be enough, with Sporting CP president denying the existence of a gentleman’s agreement in this regard.

Man Utd & Arsenal still chasing Benjamin Sesko

In the meantime, Arsenal have stepped up their interest in the free-scoring Swedish bomber, and they have seemingly usurped United in the race.

For their part, INEOS retaliated by entering the race for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, as revealed by Sky Sport DE on Thursday evening.

But in his latest column for The Daily Briefing, Bundesliga expert Christian Falk reveals that Man Utd are also ‘very interested’ in Sesko, and the same goes for Arsenal who have been chasing the Slovenian for a while, but to no avail.

How much would Sesko cost Man United

Like Ekitike, the asking price for Sesko is in the region of €100 million. Nevertheless, Falk believes Leipzig would be willing to sit at the table if they were to receive offers starting from €70 million.

The 22-year-old has been honing his skills with the German club since making the move from its sister club, RB Salzburg, in 2023. His contract runs until the summer of 2029.

It should be noted that Arsenal had previously identified Sekso as their primary target. But with the Gunners turning their attention to Gyokeres, perhaps this would clear the path for United to chase the Slovenian.
