Francesco Acerbi has followed Hakan Calhanoglu in having to come off for Inter Milan in their Serie A clash with Roma.

Italian outlet FCInterNews report that the issue for the 36-year-old is a contracture to his left thigh flexor muscle.

Inter lost midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu very early on in their Serie A clash with Roma this evening.

The Turkish international came off around the ten minute mark. Davide Frattesi took his place from the bench.

But another enforced substitution was soon to follow from Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi.

Inzaghi will hardly have wanted to make two substitutions so early on in a match. Particularly considering that it now means that he has used two of the three slots available to him.

But the Inter coach had little choice but to do so.

Defender Acerbi indicated to the bench that he was feeling a physical problem.

Therefore, Stefan de Vrij started warming up on the sidelines. And within a few minutes, the Dutchman had replaced Acerbi on the pitch at the centre of the Inter backline.

As with Calhanoglu, Acerbi immediately received an initial assessment from the Inter medical staff after coming off the pitch.

And also like with Calhanoglu, the problem for the former Lazio defender appears to confirm his left thigh.

FCIN report that Acerbi has suffered a contracture in the flexor muscle of his left thigh.

As with Calhanoglu, Acerbi was able to get off the pitch fairly early.

Therefore, Inzaghi will be hoping that the defender caught the problem in time and can recover swiftly.

Inter are already dealing with a few injury problems. Both of Piotr Zielinski and Kristjan Asllani are currently out with knocks.
