“Not currently being considered” – Top insider provides fresh update on Chelsea transfer saga | OneFootball

A swap deal between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea involving Jamie Gittens and Carney Chukwuemeka isn’t currently being considered according to reports.

The Blues are set for another busy summer and it’s thought they could look to sell as many as seven or players in order to fund their business.

Chelsea face a critical window with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Gittens Chukwuemeka swap not currently under consideration

One player the Blues would like to sell on a permanent basis is Chukwuemeka, with the 21-year-old currently on loan at Dortmund.

The Bundesliga outfit have a €35m option to buy the midfielder, but reportedly the clause is only active before the Club World Cup.

Chukwuemeka has drawn praise from Dortmund boss Nico Kovac, and it appears the German outfit would like to keep him beyond the end of this season.

With the buy option reportedly too expensive for Dortmund, the idea of a swap deal involving Chelsea target Gittens has been floated.

However, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has provided an update on the situation and stated a swap isn’t currently on the cards.

He took to X.com and said:

“A swap deal between Dortmund and Chelsea involving Jamie #Gittens and Carney Chukwuemeka is not currently being considered #CFC.

It’s no secret that Gittens is a top target for Chelsea as they look to sign a new winger this summer, and it’s thought the Blues are leading the race for the 20-year-old.

The winger has had a productive season with 12 goals and five assists in 45 appearances in all competitions and could have a key role to play as Dortmund look to qualify for the Champions League.

If a swap deal ever became a possibility it would make sense, but it’s not often these things happen and the more realistic scenario would be two separate transactions.
