Celtic defender Alistair Johnston picked up an injury during the Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb this evening.
The Hoops drew 0-0, and their hopes of reaching the Champions League knockout play-off round are still very much alive.
The right-back was taken off at the break after a nasty collision.
It seemed like he was in a lot of pain, but Brendan Rodgers confirmed after the game the injury was not serious.
Rodgers said after the game: “It was his hip flexor – nothing muscular, which is good.
“There was no need to risk it and, all being well, that will settle down in the coming days.”
With the crucial Premier Sports Cup final against Rangers coming up, Celtic fans will desperately hope that Johnston will be able to recover.
He is a key player for Rodgers, and missing him against Rangers would be a massive blow.
While Celtic are coming away with a point and are solid defensively, they cannot hide from the fact that in their attacking areas, they lack quality.
Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel made some fine saves throughout the game, and Joe Hart described him as ‘top class’.
Celtic’s primary objective is to qualify for the next round, and they will be in a better position if they beat Young Boys at home in their next game.
