Nketiah features: 3 perfect PL loan signings Ipswich Town should already be eyeing

Ipswich Town have plenty of work to do in the transfer market if they are to give themselves a good chance of staying in the Premier League.

They may not have rebuilt their squad last summer, with many of those who featured in League One also starring in the Championship last season, but the top flight is a different beast and it's a league that will be unforgiving if the Tractor Boys aren't fully equipped for life there.

The club may have the license to spend a decent amount this summer following their promotion, but they won't want to spend huge amounts as they look to comply with financial rules in the long term.

They could potentially cash in on Leif Davis and other valuable players, but keeping them would make more sense following their promotion.

This may mean they can't spend as much during the upcoming window, but they could use the loan market to fill any gaps that they need to.

Having used the loan market successfully during the 2023/24 campaign, it wouldn't be a surprise to see them secure another three or four temporary additions again in the coming months.

1 Omari Hutchinson

Omari Hutchinson is preparing for talks with his current club Chelsea, ahead of the summer window.

The 20-year-old was a real asset at Portman Road last season, contributing a huge amount to the Tractor Boys' cause as they managed to secure automatic promotion.

Able to change a game with a long-range strike and also capable playing both centrally and out wide, it would be a no-brainer for Kieran McKenna to bring Hutchinson back to Suffolk for another season.

Signing him permanently would be ideal considering his age and potential, but a loan agreement could be the most likely outcome.

It wouldn't take Hutchinson very long to settle back in at Portman Road and because he is so comfortable in this environment, he could prove to be a real asset in the top flight following a great campaign in the second tier.

2 Eddie Nketiah

It only seems like a matter of time before Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah moves on permanently.

However, his contract doesn't expire until the summer of 2027 and with this in mind, the Gunners will be keen to charge a high amount for the striker.

Teams may not be prepared to fork out a huge amount for him, but Mikel Arteta's may be willing to loan him out to Ipswich to give them the best chance of increasing the striker's value before potentially selling him permanently in 2025.

The Tractor Boys need to sign a striker with top-tier experience following Kieffer Moore's return to AFC Bournemouth - and Nketiah fits the criteria - as someone who has performed for the Gunners at the top level before.

He may not have shone on loan at Leeds United in the past, but a lot of time has passed since then, and you would back McKenna to get the best out of him.

Still only 24 at this stage, the striker has plenty of room for improvement and he's another player that Ipswich have been linked to in recent times.

3 Kalvin Phillips

Kalvin Phillips hasn't been successful since his move from Leeds, struggling to establish himself as a key player at Manchester City and also failing to make a positive impact at his current loan club West Ham United.

With these last couple of years in mind, it may be difficult for another club to help him turn things around, but a fresh start at Portman Road could do him a world of good.

Leeds could be a good destination for him, considering he has thrived there before, but there will be huge expectations on him to return to his best straight away if he returns to Elland Road.

A move to Ipswich could be better for him because of that - and he could be a great starting option to have alongside Sam Morsy or Massimo Luongo.

At his best, Phillips isa brilliant midfielder at top flight level and he has shown he is capable of performing on the biggest stages.

The Tractor Boys desperately need more quality and depth in the middle of the park if they are to have any chance of putting their stamp on top-tier games, so securing a deal for Phillips would make sense.

It would be an ambitious move but suitors might not be queuing up for Phillips after a difficult few years.
