Liverpool will look to continue their incredible start to the 2024/25 campaign on Wednesday night as Arne Slot’s men face a tough task travelling to St James’ Park to play Newcastle United.
The Reds are coming off the back of a very special week in their season as the Merseyside club were triumphant against Real Madrid in the Champions League last Wednesday before beating Man City 2-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.
This result leaves Liverpool 11 points clear of the Premier League champions, which has put Slot’s team in a great position to win only their second league title since 1990.

All the title contenders are in action on Wednesday night and the Dutch will be hoping to end the day with an increased advantage over his rivals.
Slot has made three changes from the win over Man City as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz are replaced by Jarell Quansah, Curtis Jones and Darwin Nunez.
As for Newcastle, the 2024/25 campaign has been a mixed bag for Eddie Howe’s men as the Tyneside club have put themselves in a great position to win the Carabao Cup, however, their league form has been up and down.
The Magpies are currently 11th in the Premier League table having won just five of their opening 13 matches.
Newcastle would have been hoping for a better start than this and things do not get easier for Howe’s team on Wednesday as they face the league leaders; who they have lost their last six matches against and are winless in 15.
The Tyneside club drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace last time out after conceding a 94th-minute equaliser and Howe has made one change from that clash.
The English coach has decided to take out Joe Willock for Jacob Murphy.
