Will it be a case of gone in 120 seconds for Newcastle United at Spurs this afternoon?

You can never predict for sure the result of any Premier League match.

However, we can I think, predict for sure how this Newcastle United match will begin.

The norm when playing away for most teams, in most games, is to sit back and work your way into the match.

For Eddie Howe’s team today though, I can’t see anything other than pressing Spurs from the very first whistle.

Ange Postecoglou feeling the need to make five changes (see Spurs team below) to his struggling team, that could only draw 2-2 with Wolves at home in their last match. Spurs not having won at home in the league for over two months, his side having conceded 15 goals in their last four home games (league and cup).

More injuries, illness, form and suspension leading to this latest much-changed team, including a third choice keeper making his debut after nine years at Spurs.

Austin, Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Spence, Bergvall, Sarr, Johnson, Kulusevski, Werner, Solanke

Newcastle team v Spurs:

Dubravka, Livramento, Botman, Burn, Hall, Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton, Murphy, Isak, Gordon

Subs:

Vlachodimos, Trippier, Osula, Almiron, Kelly, Willock, Barnes, Longstaff, Lewis Miley

The last four Newcastle United matches have seen Eddie Howe’s team come flying out of the traps, taking the lead inside nine minutes in all four games, inside four minutes the last three…

Man U 0 Newcastle 2 (NUFC goals on 4 and 19 minutes)

Newcastle 3 Villa 0 (2, 59 and 90+1)

Ipswich 0 Newcastle 4 (1, 32, 45+2, 54)

Newcastle 3 Brentford 1 (9, 43 and 69 (Brentford scored 90+1))

The opening goal at Ipswich was actually inside 30 seconds and Gordon’s against Villa inside 90 seconds. So taking Isak’s at Man U which was not long into the fourth minute, these last three games/wins are averaging NUFC taking the lead within 120 seconds of the match starting.

Can Newcastle United get at Spurs and overwhelm them early on, as was the case in these last four matches (United actually took the lead against Liverpool as well (on 35 minutes), whilst they also scored at Brentford inside 11 minutes).
